ANT 103 - Introduction to Archaeology 3 Credit(s)
Introduction to archaeology, with emphasis on scientific methods and procedures, tools, and techniques used by archaeologists to recover information about the past from the material remains.
Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will demonstrate an understanding of the possibilities of the archaeological record for scientific and historical study.
CLO 2) Students will gain a greater appreciation for the cultural diversity which has characterized human groups through time.
CLO 3) Students will gain an understanding of the stages of archaeological research, including site discovery, data recovery techniques, laboratory analysis, and the process of constructing narratives from material culture.
CLO 4) Students will explore issues such as cultural heritage management, repatriation, descendant community engagement, looting, and the role of archaeology in public education and contemporary global challenges
