ARB 201 - Arabic Language & Culture III 4 Credit(s)
Follow-up to ARB 102 . Expanded opportunities for listening to, speaking, reading, and writing Modern Standard Arabic. Continued exploration of culture, with an emphasis on Arab intellectuals, poets and writers. Emphasis remains on linguistic functioning in real situations.
Prereqs: ARB 102 with a passing grade Course Type: Lecture Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote, Online Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will recite Arabic letters, words, and sentences with improved accuracy in Modern Standard Arabic at the low-intermediate level.
CLO 2) Students will produce sustained paragraphs in Arabic on familiar topics using appropriate vocabulary and grammar structures.
CLO 3) Students will demonstrate ability to engage in low-intermediate level conversations in Arabic to maintain basic exchanges on a variety of subjects.
CLO 4) Students will apply grammatical rules such as number/noun agreement, ordinal numbers, and ism ishara in spoken and written Arabic.
CLO 5) Students will conjugate Form I verbs in singular, plural, and dual forms across past, present, future, and command tenses.
CLO 6) Students will recognize notable figures and cultural contributions from the Arab world through exploration of music, literature, and media.
