Survey art history course focusing on historically significant cultures and forms of art and architecture in Western Civilization. Exploration of the development of human achievements from Prehistory to the end of the Middle Ages.
Course Type: Lecture Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote, Online CORE42 MOTR Number - Name: MOTR ARTS 101 - Art History I Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will identify significant works of western art and architecture made from Prehistory through the Middle Ages.
CLO 2) Students will differentiate between the Art Historical periods and cultures studied.
CLO 3) Students will analyze the significance of formal elements as well as the subject matter of the works of art and architecture studied using art historical terminology.
CLO 4) Students will discover the cultural, social, religious and political influences, meaningful movements, notable makers, and historic contexts that contributed to the evolution of aesthetics, processes, and iconography from Prehistory through the Middle Ages.
CLO 5) Students will describe the historical development of artistic, intellectual and technological changes that took place and their relevance to today’s culture.
